Tuusula Kellokoski Iron Works Tour
The Kellokoski Ironworks Factory Museum is located on the shore of the Keravanjoki rapids in the old factory district. While the workers may have long-since left their posts, visitors can still sense the atmosphere of the old factory and the history of this important site as they wander in and through the alleys. Examples of the metal products manufactured in the ironworks are on display in the museum, as well as pictures and maps of the development of the town and the ironworks area. The museum site also has a shop, Maijan Kammari (‘Maija's Chamber’), and an information point.
You will hear fascinating stories about the owners of the Iron Works and the patients of the old mental hospital on our tour. Who was the famous Princess of Kellokoski? How were the patients treated? We will visit the Hospital Museum and the Chapel on our tour. You can also visit the local arts & crafts shops or have lunch or a cup of coffee at the cosy Kinuskilla restaurant in the ironworks. The tours include a visit to the Hospital museum and a walking tour in the Iron Works area. The tours can be customized to suit your interests and needs, so please, contact our guides Arja and Timo.
