Ketunpoika's dried red Porcini groats
Red Porcini are tasty, bulky and solid-shaped edible mushrooms. They are characterized by the darkening of the flesh on the cutting surfaces. These can be identified by the red-brown color of the cap and the black or brown lint of the foot. The edges of the cap have partly turned inwards.
The Birch Red Porcini's (Leccinum versipelle) cap is orange in color, the linen tufts of the foot from a young age are dark gray or black. The Aspen Red Porcini (Leccinum aurantiacum) has a less yellowish cap than the previous one and is orange-red in color. The linen tufts of the foot are white when young. The Pine Red Porcini (Leccinum vulpinum) has the darkest cap of the three, reddish brown; the linen tufts of the foot are young, grayish-brown or almost black when young; the flesh darkens only slightly, the feet turn reddish. There is no need to distinguish between these species in the mushroom trade. Ketunpoika's dried Red Cep Groats include a mixture of Birch, Aspen and Pine Red Cep Mushrooms, that have been picked and dried by Ketunretket in Järvenpää Finland. Packed in 26g paper bags. |
